The Huawei P9 Lite is a smartphone which was launched on the market in April 2016. This device has a 5.20 inch touch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The smartphone manufactured by Huawei would be the mid-range phone and the economic version of the Huawei P9.
The latter was one of the most advanced smartphones at the time and even allowed to remove or remove viruses. Unfortunately, this does not mean that the Huawei P9 Lite has water protection. In fact, it is one of the most popular features, as well as the ease with which Huawei can be rooted.
What is the degree of IP protection?
Electronic devices must have some type of protection against the aggressive environments to which they are exposed, this is measured through the degree of IP protection on each device.
The IP degree of protection is a system for classifying the level of protection in electrical or electronic equipment. Established in an alphanumeric standard, that is, composed of letters and numbers, they are assigned depending on the level of protection of the team against different factors around them.
CIS or International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC for its acronym in English), established this standard to classify the entry of external agents and the level of protection for equipment.
The IP is composed of three components, which identify the levels of device protectionthese are:
- The letters IP, which identify the standard and whose meaning in English is income protection, will always be present.
- The first symbol identifies the level of protection against the entry of solid objects, dust or others, and its classification ranges from 0 to 6.
- The second digit establishes the level of protection against the entry of water into the equipment, and its rating can range between 0 and 9.
From sensors to mobile phones, which are currently on the market, they must have a minimum level of IP67 protection which makes them resistant to most aggressive environments in today’s world, giving the equipment a good performance.
That is why you must take care of the entry into electronic or electrical devices of water or dust that can put at riskor the durability of the same, especially in an environment where they are exposed to them continuously.
Normally when talking about mobile phones it is easy to know if they can resist water and/or dust checking the degree of protection IIngress Protection (IP).
The IP degree of protection it is used to classify the level of resistance that electronic devices have against different types of intrusion, it is represented by two figures. The first goes from 0 to 6 and represents the dust resistance grade. The second goes from 0 to 9 and represents the degree of resistance to water (specifically to water and not to any liquid).
For example, a cell phone that is considered waterproof can have an IP 68 certificationthis means that it is completely dustproof (6) and that it can withstand long periods of time under water with high levels of pressure and temperature (8).
Submersible in water Huawei P9 Lite Yes or no?
In the case of Huawei P9 Lite, it is not possible to find the IP degree of it in the characteristics provided by the company that created this phone. Therefore we must assume that it is not the case that is this phone waterproof.
It is possible to find some videos that show how the phone is submerged for a few seconds under water at a very shallow depth. without the phone receiving any damage. But these videos are very short and are not enough proof of the capabilities of the phone. not recommended take this kind of risk if the appropriate certification does not exist.
However, if necessary it is possible get a waterproof case. These are designed to be able to submerge any mobile device under water, they come in different sizes and so it is possible to get some case that works for the P9 Lite.
